The production company we produced is called Blind Productions. We created this logo using Final Cut Pro, where we edited some videos together to create our final sequence. It is very simple because we didn't want it to be too complicated, the term 'less is more' is something that we kept in mind and we think we created a very unique piece of work.
First of all we searched YouTube for a video of an eye, which when we found one, we used it in our final piece. As the video was of a lower quality, we had to first of all put one of the videos we had filmed for our preliminary tasks at the beginning to make sure when we inserted our eye video, that it was of the right quality to fit the screen in Final Cut. Then it was time to edit the video to make it our own. If we hadn't have done that, it would be copyright of someone else's video.
We used the Colour board to edit the saturation of the video and give ot more of a bluish tone, we then added a light filter over it to make the highlights over the eye stand out more. We had the idea of finding a blood drip overlay to put over the eye, and we even found a bullet wound with blood dripping out of it but it seemed too artificial when we added to the video, so we decided against it and thought that we should just leave as it is. We added a vignette around the edge to give it more dimension and make it darker and then we played around with fonts to put over the front of the screen. Again, we wanted something simple and two dimensional, to make sure we didn't over-complicate things. We wanted it to blur in and out of view, as the video seems to blur in places as the eye focuses to the light. And lastly, we looked for audio to put over the top of the whole video. We searched YouTube for creepy, horror audios to overlay with our logo, we tried to find something that would match with the theme of our video and sure enough, we found a ringtone that says 'I see you' three times. We put it over the video so that it starts a few seconds in and then the last 'I see you' cuts off abruptly before it is said. We are very proud of what we have made and we think it goes with what we want for our production company.
We, as a company, are very happy with the outcome of our final production company logo and what it represents to us. We decided to call it blind productions, We agreed on the name as a group, because it can represent the blind panic you feel when you are in a scary situation or how you can't see what is coming at you through the darkness.

We made our Distribution company logo the same way.
The distribution company we decided upon was called "Forest Fire Films". We created this logo using Final Cut Pro, where we edited videos, sound and moving overlays together to create our final motion sequence. It is a very simplistic design because we didn't want it to look over complicated and crowded - the term 'less is more' is something that we kept in mind and was also applied in the making of this motion. We wanted to take a different approach to the distribution logo and not follow the stereotypical form like our fellow students mind-mapped. We decided upon a fire to show dominance and a forest to show how much of the market we will dominate.
We had to find different moving clips and sounds to make our distribution logo; without editing them together and changing their appearance it would have been in copyright of someone else who had produced the graphic. We decided to change the colour, sound, positioning and length of each of the layers to make the final cut of the logo our own moving image.
First, we went on youtube to find an appropriate moving background of a forest. We had many animated videos appear on our search but they did not provide the professional finish that we, as a company, wanted to promote. We decided upon this final video due to its subtle changes and movement through the forest. The changes were subtle that we made the video, we made the background darker and more intense to give it that eery feel - supporting our genre of horror. Through the use of the the colour palette we were able to change the balance and opacity of images making them look darker, lighter or be able to see through elements of the image.
Then, we had to find a smaller overlay clip of embers to add more depth to the overlaying image. I removed the background of the embers image, I did this by changing the opacity of the image and removing the deep black background of the clip. This worked well when we overlaid the fire clip into the video as it added more content to the overall clip.
The idea of a simplistic logo remained our focus for our design. Many elements made up our design but provided a simplistic outcome due to many of the layers being repeats to add more texture and colour to the final cut of the logo.
Finally, we added a sound track to overlay the image. We first had to remove any sound that was present in the original images to stop conflict between the competing sounds. We did this by muting the sound tracks on each layer. We found our desired sound overlay within a video on youtube; we first exported the file as an MP3 but the sound became distorted and lost its quality. We then decided to try exporting the file as an MP4 and overlaid the whole video. This left us with the actual video imported into our logo, which is not the outcome we desired. By changing the opacity of the clip to 0% we were able to remove all aspects of the image but leave the sound and the quality was a lot better and clearer. This left us with the final layers that we wanted present on the screen and the sound overlay that was present.
We, as a agroup, are extremely happy with the outcome of our Distribution Logo and think it has a strong representative logo for what we want it to represent:
Fire - taking over, spreading quickly wherever we want to go.
Forest - Vast and take up a lot of space in the market.
