At the start of a movie, two introduction sequences are shown, the production company and the distribution company. The production company is the company that is responsible for things like the script, casting, props, shooting... the overall production of the films they want to show. Production company introductions are usually made for one genre, for example 'Blumhouse' is a company that produces horror movies and the reason we have these introductions is to make the audience aware of what kind of movie they are about to watch and who they should thank, or in some cases criticise, for making it. There are many famous worldwide production companies, some examples of these are:
20th Century Fox
20th Century Fox, also known as Twentieth Century Fox or 20th Century Fox Pictures, is an american film studio and distributor located in the Century City area of Los Angeles.
Over the years, since 1935, they have distributed over 3000 movies and produced over 1500, all which have been loved dearly by viewers all over the world. Some examples of these would be: The Simpsons Movie, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver surfer, Avatar and The Maze Runner.
The history of 20th century fox begins over 100 years ago, in 1904, when film maker William Fox created his hand cranked films that were loved by everyone. A few years later, in 1915, they were even more popular and Fox's single screen movies grew, first into 25 different movie theaters around New York and then into a movie making business. Flash forward some more years to 1933, when Fox started working with 20th Century Pictures, founded by Darryl F. Zanuck and Joseph M. Schenck. They renamed the company to 20th Century fox and started making movies that are still popular to this day, and are still making and distributing films now.
The logo itself is of a big statue that reads '20th CENTURY FOX' with big lights shining on it. This company introduction is a very grand entrance to all of their movies, though it is not too over the top and, along with the films the company makes and distributes themselves, makes them a very memorable production company.
Others films from this production company include Titanic, Home Alone, Mrs Doubtfire, Ice Age. The most famous is The Star Wars Trilogy. This film alone has made the company the most money.
The company doesn't just produce movies, it also does TV shows including Family Guy, How I Met Your Mother, Glee.
Another connection the company has is its production of music, they named it 20th Century Fox Records. It was established in 1958, however due to the owner having no interest in the music industry and just wanting to focus on films, they closed in 1981.

Dreamworks animations
Dreamworks animation is an american animation studio based in Glendale, California. They have produced almost 300 animations including Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda.
The History of Dreamworks Studios started when it was founded in 1994 by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen and in 1997, Dreamworks produced its first feature film - the action thriller "The Peacemaker." Since then Dreamworks Studios has created many films that children and adults alike have enjoyed and they are well known all over the world.
The Dreamworks Studios introduction itself consists of a very dreamy picture scape. It starts off as a reflection in the water of the crescent moon and then pans upwards to reveal a little boy sat on the moon with a fishing rod. The word 'Dreamworks' then appears in amongst the clouds, and the full logo is then shown. This very subtle introduction, adds to the fairytale stories dreamworks create to overall make an amazing and beautiful production, no matter what the story is about.
The Company has a good relationship with the distributor Walt Disney Motion Pictures.
Dreamworks operates within Universal Studios. This is due to the fact that in December 2005 the founders of the company agreed to sell their studio to the parent of Paramount Pictures. In 2008 DreamWorks announced its intention to end its partnership with Paramount.
DreamWorks animations arm was spun off in 2004 into DreamWorks Animation SKG, which currently owns the DreamWorks trademarks. Speilberg's company continues to use the Dreamworks Trademarks under license from DWA

Blumhouse Productions
Blumhouse is an american horror movie production company, founded in 2000, by a man named Jason Blum. They have made many different horror films including the Insidious movies, the Paranormal Activity movies and Ouija. In 2015, Blumhouse produced the academy award winning movie 'Whiplash.'
The Introduction logo is actually quite complicated. The camera pans around a lot and shows many different things happening in one room. It has a paranormal theme, with objects floating around the room, a little dead girl walking around and the camera shaking and jolting as its moving. The camera then settles on one corner of the room and the 'Blumhouse Productions' company logo seeps out of the wallpaper. Sounds include, the slamming of doors, the wind and creepy voices. It has a very dark and gloomy feel, which adds to the beginning of the movie, preparing viewers for what they are about to see. Although complicated, this introduction is absolutely brilliant and is definitely well known to horror movie lovers.

Universal Studios
Universal studios, also known as Universal Pictures, is an american film studio that has produced many well known films such as the Fast and Furious, Jurassic Park and Pitch Perfect Franchises. Universal was founded in 1912 by German, Carl Laemmle. His dream became a reality in 1915 when the Universal studios opened for the first time.
The universal studios logo is one, again, that is known worldwide. This is apparent in their introductory sequence because they use a globe, to show the scale of their production company and the audience it has. In this introduction, the 'universal' logo comes into view around the globe and stops when it is straight across the middle of the screen in front of the globe. The Sequence as a whole is brilliant and shows off the scale of the universe to go with the scale of their audience.

They have created movies such as the Iron Man Franchise, Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, plus many others that have been viewed and loved by many people.
This well-known Introduction sequence, from paramounts 100th anniversary, consists of six stars coming into view at the beginning, racing past the camera and then moving over the top of the lake towards the mountain in the centre of the shot. The number of stars increases to twenty two as they move past the camera and then they form a circle around the peak of the mountain. The "paramount" logo appears in the centre of the circle, just above the peak and "100 years" is written across the bottom. The background is of a mountain scape and the sun is either rising or setting in the background. The top of the mountain being the main focus in this introduction resembles being on top of the world,as they are so well known in the industry. The beautiful landscape combined with the mixture of colours and imagery created in this sequence makes the production company memorable and this is why a lot of people love Paramounts films.

Twisted Pictures
Twisted Pictures is an american production company, mainly creating movies in the horror genre. It was only recently founded in 2004 by Mark Burg, Oren Koules and Gregg Hoffman. This Production Company is well known mainly because it produced the very famous "Saw" Franchise films.
The introductory sequence fits very well with the horror theme. The "Twisted Pictures" text is already on the screen when it starts and the barbed wire comes in from both sides, curling around the text as it goes and stopping in the middle. The knife drops down and tightens the wire, then spinning around in the opposite direction as the barbed wire shoots off to either side of the screen. The only sounds you can here are the knife and the wire, and although this is very subtle, it still adds a lot of detail to the overall sequence. This introduction represents what kind of films this production company makes, including the barbed wire which has been featured in the Saw films.
